Android provides different models to choose from and at different prices but its true that apple provides lastest updates " officially " to more of its devices.You may have already noticed that official was the word written with special attention here because android being and open source project with all of its code available to public the community behind it is larger than of ios.
If you have ever visited sites XDA forums then you might know what I am talking about here but if you haven't then you I will show you at the end of this post.If we take updates into consideration and choose ios over android just because it provides more updates then you are right but partially because if you have a little bit of knowledge about how to flash ROMS which you can obtain easily on youtube and xda then updates is not an issue for you ever.
If you choose ios over android because it provides more updates then I must tell you ios updates not every time bring out the best to its iPhone and iPad and this is the reason ios is crashing more than android.Do read my previous post on that.You can buy a phone like One plus one and update it for 4 years or you can but an iphone twice its price and update it for 4 years and this worked for me because I have a Samsung galaxy S3 running the latest android firmware which is the android lollipop and my S3 technically is 3 generations old.See how its rocking the new firmware easily!
